The voucher program will be a onetime voucher of $20. Once used, individuals must volunteer at one of the local Goodwill locations to receive any further assistance. The vouchers are per household per lifetime. They are not based off the number of children or income of the home. Referral required. Referrals for vouchers must come from a nonprofit organization or church pastor. Referrals will be verified. Picture ID and recent utility bill required unless coming from a shelter referral. Fire vouchers are also available for victims who have lost goods in a house fire. This is for $100 and not based on income or household size. Picture ID, police report, and Red Cross referral are required.

The Child Care Subsidy Program offered through Oklahoma Department of Human Services offers subsidized childcare for children while their parents or guardians are at work, in training, or receiving an education. The subsidy is paid directly to the childcare provider on the family’s behalf. The family may have a co-payment for the childcare based on their income, the number of family members, and the number of members needing services.

Crossroads’ Early Head Start program accepts infants and toddlers from birth to age three. The Head Start preschool program is for children who are three or will be four by the date of September 1. Children whose families meet federally imposed income guidelines, are in foster care, or are homeless are automatically eligible for services. Crossroads will assist as much as possible in meeting the needs of family counseling, emotional support, referrals to specialty providers, etc. Some of the programs and assistance offered include full-day and part-day childcare, nutritious meals, free health screenings, qualified and credentialed teachers, services for children with special needs, licensed centers, and assistance with unique family needs.

The goal of this program is to provide services which allow Medicaid eligible persons who need nursing facility level of care to remain at home or in the residential setting of their choosing while receiving the necessary care. The program provides adult day health care, case management, home-delivered meals, environmental modification, hospice, occupational therapy, personal care, physical therapy, prescription drugs, specialized equipment and supplies, speech therapy, and support restorative assistance. The Lawton Council is open to the public, meets every 2nd Saturday of the month at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall at 10am. The council offers the opportunity for blind and visually impaired individuals to network with other individuals and professionals. Southwestern Home Health provides short and long-term options for home health care. To be eligible for home health services you must be under the care of a physician and require intermittent care. Referrals to Southwestern Home Health can be made by the physician, discharge planner, family, friends, a community agency, or even the patient. However, all medical treatment and hands-on care require physician orders prior to services. Services provided include IV Therapy, ZOE (Fluid Monitor), diabetes management, colostomy care, laboratory services, wound care, V.A.C. Therapy, medication monitoring, compression therapy/edema, pediatric care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other private duty services. You may be asked to provide some verification documents for utility assistance.

The goal of The Salvation Army is to provide short term support, while helping individuals work towards long term self-sufficiency. While the amount and type of aid will vary, some of the assistance provided to low-income families includes free food, rental assistance, clothing, funds for pay utility and heating bills, and seasonal programs. Resources are always limited, and eligibility requirements need to be met. The Salvation Army is focused on preventing homelessness in communities they serve. Please note that much of the utility bill assistance is for people with a household member who is at risk, such as a senior, child, or disabled member of the household. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are community volunteers who represents the best interests of abused and neglected children who are wards of the juvenile court. After being screened and trained, a CASA is appointed to a child or sibling group. Their purpose is to help children find a safe, permanent home.
